Another Successful Norris Lake Cleanup! Thank you all volunteers.
On Saturday March 21 the Sunset Bay Mariner's Club held a lake clean up. There were over 30 volunteers who collected 24 tires, 6-55 gallon drums and filled a 30 cubic yard dumpster with trash. The Norris Lake Protection Alliance (NLPA) and Litter Gitter supported this effort by providing boats and personnel to haul people to the clean up sites, and all the collected trash back to the marina.
In addition, Norris Lake Project provided trash bags and gloves for the volunteers. It was a very successful day! Unfortunately, there is always more trash out there. We encourage everyone to pick up trash whenever you are out on the lake, because it takes all of us to Keep Norris Blue!

This takes effort and we are thankful for all our volunteers!

The NLPA has expanded lake cleanup efforts to also include the removal of multiple concrete dock sections found on various shorelines.
What we have Accomplished

Extraction of a shoreline grounded structure weighing thousands of pounds

Towing it to a location where the concrete could be broken up, steel frame dissected, and foam flotation removed and disposed of responsibly

Location and extraction of enough abandoned Styrofoam flotation blocks to fill a 20’ cargo trailer

The load was then towed to a land fill for disposal
